Yes, the owner will receive the actual message and he will get notified. The whole point of this article is to demonstrate that there is no need for anyone else to be involved ( as in social-engineering attack ) and the attacker can receive the OTP every single time.
This kind of OTP hacks are actually possible on a lot of websites, not the banking websites as they tend to be more secure ( at least I hope they are ) but you can still find them on various websites.
